Singular does the same thing too - I don't know much of anything about East County beyond Silver Spring-Wheaton-Glenmont. I don't take much issue with Singular and JUTP educating me on the places east of us.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4859602159294908902.post-75853306133051851672012-01-11T08:49:35.979-05:002012-01-11T08:49:35.979-05:00"sometimes he's talking about places east..."sometimes he's talking about places east of us that I have no idea where they are"<br /><br />You just answered your own question.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4859602159294908902.post-15922244200371187292012-01-10T22:05:44.014-05:002012-01-10T22:05:44.014-05:00How on earth does JUTP barely qualify? Sure, sometimes he's talking about places east of us that I have no idea where they are, but meh, that's fine by me. Plus, he's broken a lot of news that otherwise would go over everyone's head (e.g. the 1155 Ripley new build that Sligo talked about today JUTP broke quite awhile ago, which I then forwarded to UrbanTurf to do a write-up on last week).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4859602159294908902.post-47181340556922703822012-01-10T16:09:30.853-05:002012-01-10T16:09:30.853-05:00JUTP barely qualifies as a Silver Spring blog.JUTP barely qualifies as a Silver Spring blog.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4859602159294908902.post-88934055121538042682012-01-10T09:43:00.398-05:002012-01-10T09:43:00.398-05:00Fresh Starts was (maybe still is) a kinda greasy s...Fresh Starts was (maybe still is) a kinda greasy spoon diner on the corner of Fenton and Silver Spring Ave (right across from Highlands Cafe). The type of place where you can still order coffee for less than a $1.00. Their clientele appeared to favor retirees hanging out and local workers coming in for breakfast or lunch. They opened early and closed by 2pm.socoblogboyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11897758894822930556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4859602159294908902.post-32532420083906549002012-01-09T20:51:35.859-05:002012-01-09T20:51:35.859-05:00What is Fresh Starts? That paper recently came down so I'm slightly optimistic that they were just closed for 2-3 months or so to do some quick renovations and will be back online soon.<br /><br />It'll be nice having a 2nd active blogger for SS (JUTP being the other). Charm Thai might be the only addition in the last 6 months (or has it been longer than that now?), but there are some imminent openings as well (a small La Madeline bistro type joint opening at Ga. and Wayne, Society appearing to be close to opening, and the Japanese Steakhouse on Elsworth come to mind).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4859602159294908902.post-677687853360057342012-01-09T08:43:53.146-05:002012-01-09T08:43:53.146-05:00JK - my wife and I stopped eating meat mainly due ...JK - my wife and I stopped eating meat mainly due to inhumane industrial farming practices. We never did stop eating fish since we figured at least they're living a normal life (those not raised on fish farms) till they are caught and eaten. After doing some reading and research about 3 years ago we decided to start eating meat and poultry again to support farmers who raise animals in a sustainable fashion. We still eat veg meals at home pretty often, but now we mix in pork, beef and chicken which I pick up at the farmers market.socoblogboyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11897758894822930556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4859602159294908902.post-19745981602065592932012-01-08T21:40:21.868-05:002012-01-08T21:40:21.868-05:00Welcome back!
